This week we finished our English recount unit. This unit would involve creating a postcard, as if they were one of the children from our class book 'Room 13'. They are on a school trip, for a week, in Whitby. The children would be writing home to tell their family what has happened during their time away. The children have been learning about the grammatical features which they would need to use in order to write their own recounts, such as the use of the first person, past tense, expanded noun phrases and different types of conjunctions.
They planned their recounts before writing them. Once they had finished the writing process they carefully edited their work to see if they could improve anything.
We then began our next writing unit, which is persuasive writing and for this unit we are going to create a hotel advert encouraging people to visit the Crow's Nest Hotel, from the Room 13 story.
