This week in Class 2…

This week we have begun our new science unit which is looking at states of matter. In our first lesson, we became particles and explored how different the states behave!

As a solid, we were tightly grouped and couldn’t move very much. As a liquid, we floated past each other but remained within a confined area. As a gas, we all moved in different directions and spread out far and wide.  We had lots of fun changing into each state!

In the classroom, we used our knowledge of how the different states behave to sort different materials into solids, liquids or gasses.

In PSHE this half term we are looking at how we can keep ourselves healthy. Our first lesson focused on being fit and healthy and we enjoyed testing our fitness by setting different challenges such as how many times can we run around the playground or how many skips can we do in a minute. Our second lesson looked at making healthy food choices. We used our prior knowledge of our science work to help us with our discussions. We then looked at what drugs are and how these can be good to help people to get better when they are unwell but some can be bad for our bodies.

We enjoyed finishing the week with Red Nose Day fun and a non uniform day. Miss Thewsey shared with us the reason we have Red Nose Day each year during collective worship. After this we got into groups and designed different obstacle courses which we then moved around.
