Another busy week in class one!
In Phonics, reception have learnt all of the phase 3 graphemes (What superstars!). We are now recapping these and starting to read longer words. The children are enjoying their phonics sessions. They particularly like matching the picture to the words. Meanwhile, year 1 are ploughing through the phase 5 graphemes and making super progress. They now know lots of alternatives which they are starting to use in their reading and writing. I am very pleased with their fluency in reading.
In year 2, we have been looking at the book "The Enormous Crocodile" in our guided reading sessions. The children have enjoyed getting stuck into a longer book. We have identified new vocabulary, talked about our predictions and so much more.
In our areas, this week, we have enjoyed making rice crispy cakes, having tea parties and making lots of lovely things.
In French, we have been learning all about towns. We have learnt the french words for bakery, school, ice skating rink, stadium and cinema. The children are enjoying this unit and using these new words in sentences.
