<p>A huge well done goes to our Class 3 netballers who took part in the Sporting Influence finals tournament at Ashville College this week. Our netballers gave 100% and we are very proud of their efforts!</p>

<p>Well done to our Class 3 pupils for entertaining the residents at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home today. Class 3 children created a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt for the residents at the care home and helped them to find their chocolate egg. We are very proud of Class 3 for their kindness and showing one of [&hellip;]</p>

<p>&nbsp; Thank you to parents for joining us for our Easter Service, we also said goodbye to Rev Karen who is moving to be nearer family. She will be greatly missed in our collective worships. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>This week is British Science Week and we have been putting our scientific skills to the test today with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) afternoon.</p>

<p>Thank you to Rev Karen for teaching us the story of Palm Sunday in our Collective Worship. &nbsp;</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not World Book Day without some fantastic outfits and t-shirts! Well done to everyone for dressing as your favourite character or designing a t-shirt with your favourite book.</p>

<p>Paul, a retired firefighter, came and talked to us in Collective Worship about this half term&#8217;s school value: Courage. He told us about times when he had to have courage in his job and gave us opportunities to ask questions.</p>

<p>Class 2 &amp; 3 had a fantastic day yesterday visiting Leeds Grand Mosque. Our Focus Faith this year is Islam and the children have expanded their understanding of the Islamic faith by experiencing the daily prayers and religious activities within this Muslim place of worship.</p>

<p>A huge well done and congratulations to our Wellbeing Ambassadors: Tempi, George, Sophia and Louie for presenting an amazing Wellbeing presentation on Healthy Snacks.  Thank you to the parents and carers who joined us to support the Wellbeing Ambassadors and watch our Collective Worship. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Beth from Phunky Foods led a food tasting session with Class 2 yesterday, pupils enjoyed trying some new foods and alternatives! &nbsp;</p>

<p>Well done to all our pupils who attended the Young Voices 2024 concert at Sheffield Arena last night and a big thank you to all the parents who joined us for this amazing experience! &nbsp;</p>

<p>Pupils from our Sing Up club are now on their way to Sheffield Arena where they will be joining thousands of children from around the country for the Young Voices 2024 concert. We hope they have fun!</p>

<p>We were extremely lucky this week to welcome another visitor into our school….this time from Peru! Sonia is a teacher in Lima, Peru and she spent some time with us finding out about UK primary schools and teaching the children a traditional peruvian dance.</p>

<p>Thank you to Rose, our Ugandan visitor, who is a director of a school in Kampala, Uganda. Rose spent a day with each class Mon-Wed this week to see how primary-aged children learn in UK schools. We will keep in touch with Rose and have set up a link with her school &#8211; more to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last Friday Julian Smith joined us in school and discussed leadership and his role as an MP with the Class 2 and Class 3 children. Class 2 children wrote to Julian to thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Roecliffe school. Julian has sent us a reply</p>

<p>With ‘Blue Monday’ on the horizon (the third Monday in January is said to be the saddest day of the year) we have celebrated our very own Well-being Day at Roecliffe with a number of activities and events.</p>

<p>We invited Julian Smith MP to visit our wonderful school to see how we learn and to meet our Class 2 and Class 3 children so that they could find out more about Democracy and leadership.</p>

<p>Wednesday was a very busy day! The children enjoyed Christmas dancing,  Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa! </p>
