<p>Congratulations to the children who were in Class 1 last year for being awarded second place for their ‘Day on a Farm’ picture at the Boroughbridge &amp; Aldborough Show during the summer holiday. Well done to those children!</p>

<p>What a fantastic start to the school year &#8211; sunshine and smiles! We have enjoyed greeting all our children and their families back to school this morning and our school is once again full of happiness and hard work!</p>

<p>Thank you to Roecliffe staff and Born of the Forest for providing three whole days of Forest School games and activities at Badger Wood this week. Fortunately, the weather has been kind to us this week and all our children enjoyed being busy outside and getting muddy in the woods!</p>

<p>Congratulations to some of our Year 4 and Year 5 children for completing their training and becoming fully fledged and qualified Digital Leaders. These children have regularly met with Mrs Briggs to complete eight modules of Digital Leader training which is provided by Childnet. These children will be our Digital Leaders in the new academic [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our Year 6 children enjoyed a morning of bowling yesterday, followed by slushies and lunch! Thank you to FORCES for funding this!</p>

<p>Thank you to Mrs Barrett for organising a wonderful Nursery Graduation for all our fabulous Nursery children this week. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as parents/carers and family members joined Mrs Barrett in celebrating the end of one chapter for our wonderful Nursery children and the start of another.</p>

<p>Class 2 have been learning all about James Herriot and yesterday they visited the museum in Thirsk. They had lots of fun learning all about him and about life as a vet!</p>

<p>Thank you so much to all our family members and friends who joined us for our annual Sports Day afternoon on Friday. We had lots of fun taking part in various sports events on our village green!</p>

<p>Our Year 6 children took part in the Crucial Crew event this week which was organised by North Yorkshire Police. This transition event helped our Year 6 children understand more about making the right choices as we grow older through various workshops</p>

<p>A huge well done goes out to our Class 2 children who worked brilliantly together in their teams to achieve second place in both of their competitions!</p>

<p>Seventeen of our Class 3 children enjoyed an amazing trip to France this week! They used their French speaking skills to talk with the people we visited at the snail farm, goat farm, chocolate factory, boulangerie and at the town market. We climbed high on the hi-ropes in a forest and we played each evening [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our year 4/5/6 children had a fun day in France yesterday, they visited a Goat Farm,  a Snail Farm and had a tour of Chocolaterie Beussent! &nbsp;</p>

<p>We enjoyed our first messy play session which was held in our school hall this week. We welcomed babies and young children from 9 months to 4 years old from our local area and the theme was ‘farmyard’. The children in our nursery also joined in and had a wonderfully messy time!</p>

<p>Our gorgeous little chicks, which hatched in the Class 1 classroom just under two weeks ago, are now ready to spread their little wings and flap to pastures new! Thank you to our kind staff and children who have cleaned, cuddled and fed our little feathery babies in the past couple of weeks. We have [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Congratulations to our Nursery children for being presented with a very important certificate from Beth at Phunky Foods to show that they have completed their healthy foods workshops this half term. Our Nursery children have learned all about different healthy foods and enjoyed trying new tastes and textures of fruits and vegetables.</p>

<p>Well done to our Year 6 pupils for trying your hardest this week in the SATs tests! We hope that you achieve the outcomes you deserve and wish you lots of happy memories in your final half term at Roecliffe.</p>

<p>Class 1 children and Nursery children enjoyed a trip to Monk Park Farm today to enhance their learning about animals this half term. We held some animals and saw them up close, and we also helped with tasks on the farm and learned how to care for some of the animals. </p>

<p>There has been much excitement in Class 1 this week as we witnessed the hatching of our six eggs! On Sunday and Monday all six of the chicks finally hatched in their incubator and the children have been holding the chicks and observing them throughout the week. We are looking forward to seeing how they [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The Reception and Year 1 children were amazing athletes at a Sporting Influence tournament at Staveley CE Primary School this week. We are very proud of their efforts and the children had a fantastic time!</p>

<p>Nursery children had a fantastic time with Beth at Phunky Foods this week making a yummy fruit treat!</p>

<p>Today we welcomed the Dogs Trust who came to talk to all of us about how to be safe when we are near dogs. We enjoyed listening to a dog safety presentation in our Collective Worship and then we took part in class workshops this afternoon. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Well done and thank you to all of the children who entered the Road Safety Poster Competition &#8211; you all worked very hard to produce vibrant and informative posters which would support our message to drivers of ‘Slow down!’ We are delighted to announce that Michalina in Class 2 is our winner and Michalina’s poster [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Many thanks to Neil Atkinson from Sporting Influence who provided First Aid workshops for all our children (Nursery &#8211; Year 6) this week. The younger children in Class 1 learned about how to ring 999,  whilst our older children in Class 2 and Class 3 learned about CPR and how to put someone in the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Having caught an early train from Thirsk, the staff and children packed in an eventful day as they walked 7 miles around London visiting: the London Eye, Westminster and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace (including changing of the guard!) and St James’ Park, Piccadilly Circus and Chinatown.  As a grand finale to our day, [&hellip;]</p>
