Forest Schools- Class 3
05 Jul 2021
Over this half term, year 5 and 6 have spent time continuing to develop their forest school skills in relation to tool use, (using peelers to whittle, folding saws, wire cutters, gimlets, hammers ) knot tying and lashing, fire lighting and cooking on the fire.
They have had to work as a team to meet challenges set, ie. building a structure that is stable enough to support an egg, even when shaken. We have had a few weeks where the weather has been wet and windy, however they have remained generally positive and showed some resilience.
Crafts have included making Willow dreamcatchers, Nordic friendship bracelets, Hazel characters and making tin can ovens. Snacks, as ever have been popular and included jam sandwiches (changed from toast due to Storm Babet), noodles, porridge, popcorn and melting chocolate on their tin can ovens to dip marshmallows into.
Bug hunting, building dens and being in the mud kitchen remain favourites. They have also enjoyed chilling out in the hammock, playing on the rope swing and playing with the Forest School friends!
