First week back

07 Jan 2022

Although it has been a short week, we have been very busy in class 2.

We started off the week thinking about our holidays and the New Year. We enjoyed talking about what we have been up to and sharing the presents Santa brought us. Then we began thinking about the New Year and our goals for the year. As a class, we talked about our achivements from 2021 and our resolutions for 2022. The children identified some goals, aims and wishes for the year and wote these down.

In Maths, we have started multiplication. We began by thinking about equal groups and linking our knowledge of addition to our new topic. The children enjoyed making equal groups with a range of resources, deciding that we can have lots of groups but to be equal they all must have the same amount. The children then looked at the link between multiplication and addition, noticing that we can sometimes write questions in different ways. The children are really enjoying this new challenge.

In PSHE, we have started our new piece of Dreams & Goals. First, we thought about sucess, what it means to be sucessful, how it feels and what we can do to be sucessful. We shared our ideas and some of our own sucessess during circle time. Jigsaw Jack had left us a box to keep all our sucesses in. He said for us to write them down and then each week we can share new ones with each other. Jigsaw Jack also gave us some challenges to choose from:

1. Learn the Macarena dance.
2. Learn to count from 1 to 10 in French.
3. Make a olourful card to take home to your family with a special message inside it.
4. Memorise a poem.
5. Learn a magic trick.

We have chosen one each and began practicing this afternoon.

We have also had lots of fun exploring our areas...

Next week we have Charlie, Archie, Edward, William and George S sharing. Please can you share something using our big question for this half-term, what lies above and beneath our feet?

Well done class 2, you have had a super first week back. We are very impressed with how well you have settled back into school and how eager you are to learn.

Have a lovely weekend!
