Class 2 - Seasonal Changes

30 Sep 2021

This week, we have been investigating seasonal changes.  We have noticed that it is getting colder and it gets dark earlier than in Summer.  On Tuesday, we explored the school grounds to see if we could find any signs of Autumn.  We saw that some of the leaves are changing colour and falling from the trees.  We learnt that trees that lose their leaves in Autumn are called deciduous trees.

We also noticed some evergreen trees that still have their green leaves.
There are  lots of fruits, nuts and berries at this time of year.  We found out that these will provide food for the birds and some animals but most of them are not safe for humans to eat.

We collected fallen leaves and looked at the different colours.  Some of the leaves were very dry and crunchy.  Later, we painted our leaves and used them to print pictures:

On Wednesday, we found something very exciting in our outdoor area... a dinosaur egg!

We have been watching it all week, hoping it will hatch. We did some fantastic 'Found' posters using adjectives to describe the egg and hopefully find who it belongs to. The children have brought a copy of these home to put up. We will keep watching and let you know if anything happens!

We have also decided on our school council representatives... Hugo, Emily, Charlie and Seb.

Thank you to everyone for sharing, we will be continuing the dinosaur theme next week.
