Class 2 - Chocolate Maths, Oceans and Biomes

13 Mar 2020

In maths this week, we have been working on division tasks.  We have used lots of objects and numbers to practise sharing into equal groups.
Our favourite activity was to share our chocolate ladybirds into different equal groups.  We had 28 chocolates and found that there are different  ways to group 28 equally.  We found that we could not share the chocolates into groups of 3,5 and 6  because we couldn't make equal groups.
Our favourite division was to share 28 chocolates into groups of 1 because that meant there was one for each of us....including Mrs Peel and Mrs Micklefield!

We have continued to find out more about our planet in our 'Wonderful World' geography work.  On Monday, we looked at maps and the globe to name and locate the oceans of the world.  We also researched to find facts about the oceans.

Next, we decided to find out what a biome is. We found that biomes are places in the world with a certain climate.  Different biomes have different plants and animals.   There can be more than one biome in a continent. We found that rainforests, deserts, tundra and grassland are some of the types of biome.  We are looking forward to finding out more about these biomes in our next lessons
